Knock on Wood Blog Tour

Today is my turn on the blog tour for Deena Rutter's  new fabric collection called "Knock on Wood." The inspiration for this modern fabric collection  was Deena's teenage boys. I was super excited when Deena asked me  to show these boy prints in a feminine way.

It was so hard to decide which prints to use.  I chose 3 prints.  The cream plus sign, the blue dot and the gray stripe. Then I chose Billie's Best Dress Pattern from my Butterfly Kisses Pattern Company.

I love the low volume prints with the pop of blue. The blue is mixed with a pinch of teal and a pinch of gray. It has that deep dark ocean blue color that is just yummy:)

You can find the whole collection of fabrics  here on Riley Blake Designs website. Ask your local quilt shop if they carry "Knock on Wood"  and they can show you the whole collection.

I love Amy from diaryofaquilter photo of the whole collection. It gives a great feel for the colors and prints in this  modern fabric collection.

Bittersweet Blog Tour

It has been so fun to see all the amazing projects
that have been created using
Sue Daley'sBittersweet fabric line!!!
I feel privileged to be part of the
Bittersweet Blog Tour.
Sue Daley has created beautiful designs with a brilliant,
colorful, youthful, inspiring and fun color palette.
Bittersweet can be purchased here at Riley Blake Designs.

My favorite part about working with Bittersweet was the amount of design and color you can cut in a small piece. That's why I chose to do a mini churn dash block which measures 3" when finished.

This new quilt pattern using Bittersweet is called "Prosperity".
The pattern will be available through
Butterfly Kisses Pattern Company
and is available at your local quilt shop.

This is the quilt center where you can see
how tiny the 3" blocks are.

I used the gold swiss dot for the background fabric.

Needle turn applique is one of my
favorite methods to applique.
I added lots of borders with appliqued
flowers, leaves and vines.
